Cypress Capital Management was founded in 2008 amidst the turmoil from the global financial crisis. The name Cypress Capital Management was originally inspired by the independent image of the famed Lone Cypress in Pebble Beach, California. However, in the aftermath of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy the name Cypress began to take on new meaning. Many Cypress trees are uniquely adapted to forest fires, holding their seeds for many years in closed cones until the parent tree is destroyed by a fire. The seeds are then released to colonize the bare, scorched earth that remains.
